Kordsmen to perform for Community Music Association’s Goodnight Celebration

The Kanawha Kordsmen Barbershop Chorus has been singing music in the barbershop style since 1948. The Chorus is a local chapter of Barbershop Harmony Society, which has more than 30,000 members worldwide.

The Kordsmen have about 40 members, men from all walks of life: doctors, lawyers, students, salesmen, plant workers, teachers, computer professionals, policemen, engineers, government workers, architects, businessmen, priests and ministers, all who love to sing.

The chorus contributes many hours annually to entertain community groups of all kinds in the greater Kanawha Valley. We perform at celebrations all over town – birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, company functions, retirements and more. The Kordsmen and their quartets purvey the famous Singing Valentines in February, as well as their annual show in June in conjunction with FestivALL and Good Night on December 31st in conjunction with the Community Music Association.

This year’s Good Night perforrmance will feature Chapter quartets as well as a wide repertoire’ performing hits from Michael Buble, Jason Miraz, Elton John, the Beatles and some Billy Joel with a few good old gospel and traditional barbershop style harmony numbers sprinkled in.  Any persons interested in singing with the Kanawha Kordsmen or engaging the Chorus or a quartet for a performance may call 346-SING(7464) for more information.
